As the new year approaches and I think of the many goals that I want to accomplish, I often find myself overwhelmed with fear.
The fear of rejection.
The fear of acceptance.
The fear that I will fail.
The fear that I may not have what it takes.
I could go on and on with these thoughts. Once they start, it becomes like a flood of negativity that is only meant to paralyze me from doing what I believe is in me to do.
Sometimes, I allow myself to sit with these thoughts way too long. So long that I miss deadlines, I waste time, I procrastinate, etc. I basically get in my own way.
Thankfully, I occasionally heed to that voice deep within me (I am learning to heed to it more often). All I hear is simply, "HAVE NO FEAR."
When we decide to live continually without fear, we are free to pursue our dreams without holding ourselves back from life's possibilities.
Living without fear causes us to move on something that we would have never pursued otherwise. It clears our mind so that we can begin to think outside the box and throw our inhibitions to the wind!
Because we are suddenly not afraid of where our next step will take us. Our outlook has changed.
So as you step into planning your life out for 2016, use the the following 5 tips to stay FEAR FREE!
1. Stop your FEAR THOUGHTS.
When you feel yourself going down a path of fear, stop the thought with a confession. My favorite is scripture that says "God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. " Feel free to use my favorite scripture or a statement that you can say OUT LOUD AND/OR JOURNAL so that you can remind yourself to stop fueling your thoughts of fear.
2. Have a PLAN.
The truth is that having a plan helps to get rid of fear because you can see where you are going. Just like having a road map or GPS helps you feel more confident in your drive to a strange place. When you begin to work on ironing out the steps to your dreams of a better you, a better life, then you are reassured that you will get to your destination.
3. ALWAYS GET UP!
No matter what happens on your journey, always get back up. This is crucial. In times that things don't go your way, it isn't necessarily a sign that you should stop moving forward. GET BACK UP AND KEEP MOVING.
I like to use the example of a baby learning how to walk. It's amazing that babies know how to make the adjustments they need to make after every fall until they eventually are fluid walkers! Babies are not defeated in any way even when they fall right on their face (and I am sure it hurts when they do)!
We must operate with the same tenacity!
I will end with this very helpful quote by Bertrand Arthur William Russell:
"Worry is a form of fear, and all forms of fear produce fatigue. A man who has learned not to feel fear will find that fatigue of daily life enormously diminished."
Become FEAR FREE and get your WHOLE life today!
